SACSESS report now available for download
The technological mapping report released by SACSESS in 2015 is now available online.
It provides an overview of the different actinide separation processes used in the partitioning and transmutation (P&T) of nuclear waste and compares them, including their status and their main advantages and disadvantages.

Word from the Coordinator
SACSESS Project Coordinator
"From 22 to 24 April 2015, the FP7 European project SACSESS organised its first International Workshop entitled “Towards safe and optimised separation processes, a challenge for nuclear scientists” at the Primate Palace in Warsaw.
With about 120 attendees from 15 nationalities, representing 45 research organisations, it is one of the biggest international conferences dedicated to actinide separation processes. Thanks to the signature of the cooperation agreement between SACSESS and the American DOE, 8 American colleagues were able to contribute to the conference.
We can also notice the contributions of our colleagues from Russia, Japan and South Korea in addition to the European community. 40 talks and 26 posters covered all of the topics linked to actinide separation process development (heterogeneous and homogeneous recycling), such as basic research, analytical developments, chemical and radiolysis modelling, radiolytic behavior, transfer kinetics, lab-scale tests, spiked tests and hot-test demonstration, as well as pyrochemical process development.
Always deeply involved in the training of the “young generation”, the SACSESS Committee delegated the moderation of the Workshop to the SACSESS students (Chairmen of the sessions). 12 SACSESS travel grants have also been allocated to allow the maximum of our students to attend the workshop. They were about 40 in total and had the opportunity to exchange all along the workshop (and the Warsaw evenings!) with the international experts who played the game!
The success of the Workshop was made possible thanks to the great organisation of the event by our colleagues from INCT, whom we warmly thank again."
Recap of Summer School “Working with Plutonium”
1 June 2015 The Summer School “Working with Plutonium” successfully ended on 8 May 2015. This event was a joint effort between the SACSESS, ASGARD and CINCH-II FP7 EURATOM projects and took place from 4 to 8 May.
